Crime Watch: Items Stolen From Cars in West Hempstead

See what crimes were committed in the neighborhood this week.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

BURGLARIES

Two Valley Stream homes -- one on Gold Street and another on 5th Street -- were burglarized on July 13.

GRAND LARCENIES

A vehicle parked on Henry Street in West Hempstead was stolen on July 15.

A car was stolen from the Town of Hempstead parking lot on Hoffman Avenue in Elmont between July 9 and 10.

Tires and rims were stolen off three cars parked in Valley Stream -- on Greenway Boulevard and Benedict Avenue -- between July 15 and 16.

On July 11, thieves also stole tires and rims off a car parked on Hoffman Avenue in Elmont.

LARCENIES

A GPS and other personal items were stolen from two vehicles parked in West Hempstead. The first incident occurred on Maxwell Street between July 2 and July 5 and the other on Henry Street on July 13.

An unknown person broke into two cars parked on Munson Avenue in West Hempstead between July 12 and 13. One of the victim's wallets, which contained credit cards, was found by a neighbor up the block.

Items were stolen from a vehicle parked on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead on July 14.

A GPS and other personal items were stolen from a vehicle parked on Roquette Avenue in Elmont on July 10. 

Two shoppers at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream reported that when they returned to the parking lot they found their car door locks had been damaged and property, including a GPS, had been removed from inside. The incidents occurred on July 12 and July 15.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

Tires were slashed on a vehicle parked on Renken Boulevard in Franklin Square between July 10 and 11.

Between July 14 and July 15, four vehicles parked in Franklin Square were damaged. Two parked on Goldenrod Avenue and another on Madison Avenue were keyed. The driver's side mirror of a car parked on Cathedral Avenue was also broken and the vehicle sustained multiple scratches.

An unknown person shattered the driver's side window of a car parked on 1st Street in Elmont between July 9 and 10.

The front windshield of a vehicle parked at the corner of Belmont Boulevard and Johnston Avenue in Elmont on July 10 was smashed by an unknown perosn.
