Crime Watch: Malverne Burglary, Stolen Vehicles and Gun Assault

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police and the Malverne Police.

Burglary

The Malverne Police interrupted a burglary at a home on Wicks Lane Sunday afternoon. According to Chief John Aresta, an officer observed two black males on the property, who proceeded to drop an item and flee in the direction of Ocean Avenue. The police pursed the subjects but lost them in the woods near Malverne High School. The police are waiting for the owner of the home, who has been out of town, to return to determine what items were stolen. 

A home on Albert Court in Valley Stream was burglarized on Aug. 29. There was also an attempted burglary at a home on Alden Avenue in North Valley Stream on Aug. 30.

Tydor Wines and Liquors on Elmont Road in Elmont was burglarized between Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.

Toys R Us on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream was burglarized on Sept. 3.

Attempted Robbery

A teen walking on Chestnut Street in West Hempstead on Sept. 5 was approached by four men, who told him to empty his pockets. When the victim said he had nothing, one man hit him on the head with a handgun. Police are still searching for the perpetrators. for the full story.

Grand Larceny

Parked cars were stolen from Scherer Boulevard in Franklin Square, Hicks Street and Valley Stream Boulevard in Valley Stream, and Jacbob Street, and Murray Hill and Gotham Avenue in Elmont between Sept. 1 and Sept. 3.

A vehicle parked on Dogwood Drive in Valley Stream was reportedly stolen on Sept. 5. The car keys were also missing from the living room of the home.

An unknown subject stole a wallet, various credit cards and personal papers from a car parked on Otsego Road in West Hempstead on Sept. 3.

A bicyle was stolen from Foster Avenue in Valley Stream between Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.

Tires and Rimes were stolen off a vehicle parked on N. Corona Avenue in Valley Stream betwween Aug. 26 and Aug. 29.

License plates were stolen off a vehicle parked on W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream on Sept. 1.

A cell phone was stolen from a vehicle parked at the intersection of Village Avenue and Elmont Road in Elmont on Aug. 31.

A bicylce was stolen from a location on Dutch Broadway in Elmont on Sept. 3.

Criminal Mischief

The windshield of a car parked on Ontario Road in Lakeview was reportedly broken by an unknown subject on Sept. 3.

Unknown subjects broke windows on vehicles parked in Elmont and Valley Stream between Aug. 29 and Sept. 3. The incidents occurred on Evans Avenue and A Street, and Village Avenue in Elmont, and Sunrise Highway and S. Terrace Place in Valley Stream.

The window of a home on Warwick Road in Elmont was reportedly broken with a softball by an unknown person on Sept. 5.

An unknown subject reportedly damaged the quarter panel and slashed two tires of a car parked on N. Grove Street in Valley Stream between Sept. 2 and Sept. 3.
