Crime Watch: West Hempstead Home Burglaries, Car Stolen

See what crimes were committed in the neighborhood this week.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

BURGLARIES

A home on Hawthorne Street in West Hempstead and another on Park Lane South in Franklin Square were both burglarized on Feb. 10.

A burglary was also committed on Feb. 14 at a West Hempstead home on Eagle Avenue, while a female resident was still inside. Cops have charged three Queens men with the crime. Full story here.

Two Elmont homes were recently burglarized. The first incident occurred at a residence on Parkway Drive on Feb. 7 and the second on Elmont Road sometime between Jan. 1 and Feb. 12.

GRAND LARCENIES

A car that had been parked on Poplar Street in West Hempstead was stolen on Feb. 11.

Between Feb. 6 and Feb. 7, two victims in Franklin Square reported that items had been stolen from their cars while they were parked on Madison Avenue. In one case, the perpetrator inflicted damage on the vehicle even though it was unlocked.

Two tires and rims were stolen off a car parked on Clafin Boulevard in Franklin Square on Feb. 7.

Four tires and rims were stolen off a vehicle on Feb. 8 while it was parked in the driveway of a home on Amethyst Street in Elmont.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A victim in Lakeview reported that an unknown person punctured the two front tires of his van on Feb. 9 while it was parked on Harrison Street.

A victim who had parked his car on N. Central Avenue in Valley Stream on Feb. 9 for two hours while dining at a restaurant says he returned to find his vehicle had been keyed on all sides and both driver's side tires has been deflated by an unknown suspect.

Between Feb. 10 and Feb. 11, an unknown person damaged a building on W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream with black spray-paint. During that same time frame, another victim in N. Valley Stream says an unknown subject smashed the front and rear windshield of his vehicle while it was parked on Decker Street.

An unknown person damaged a vehicle that had been parked on Biltmore Avenue in Elmont between Feb. 8 and 9, ripping off the windshield wipers, deflating all four tires and inflicting numerous scratches on the car.
