Crimes in Rockville Centre:

Arrests

  • On Sept. 22 at about 2:31 p.m., Gloria Arrubla, 53, of Uniondale, was arrested and charged with petit larceny following a police investigation at Home Goods, located at 150 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.
  • On Sept. 24 at 4:27 a.m., Tamer E. Eltabib, 22, of Oceanside, was arrested for DWI, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and VTL violations after being observed operating a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and Morris Avenue in Rockville Centre.
  • On Sept. 24 at 6:35 p.m., Sarita Johnson, 45, of W. Hempstead, was arrested for petit larceny following a police investigation at Home Goods, located at 150 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.
  • On Sept. 24 at 9:49 p.m., John A. Amin, 50, of Baldwin Harbor, was arrested for DWI after being observed operating a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and N. Kensington Avenue in Rockville Centre.

  • On Sept. 25 at 9:40 p.m., a complainant from Fams Court in Jericho reported that an unknown male approached her in the Mercy Medical Center parking lot, located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre and stole a 2011 Hewlett Packard lap top computer valued at $1,200 and an Amazon Kindle valued at $300. The victim tripped and fell and the subject fled on foot toward Peninsula Boulevard with the stolen property.

Burglary

  • On Sept. 24 at 1:15 p.m., complainant superintendent from 55 Windsor Ave. in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged the face plate of a door lock to a third floor apartment in an apparent attempt to gain entry.

  • On Sept. 22 at 9:25 p.m., a teacher at South Side High School reported the theft of an iPad computer from a classroom.
  • On Sept. 21, a complainant from Harbour Drive in Blue Point reported that unknown person(s) stole a Mac book lap top computer valued at $1,799 from his motor vehicle parked in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and N. Forest Avenue in Rockville Centre between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • On Sept. 26, a complainant from S. Kensington Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 21 at 10 a.m, unknown person(s) stole a Mac Book lap top computer valued at $1,100 from his residence.

Forgery

  • On Sept. 21 at 5:33 p.m., a complainant from Bulson Road in Rockville Centre reported that he received thirteen forged US Postal money orders in the mail from who he thought was EBAY and that he cashed forged money orders totaling $6,195 at Chase Bank.

Assault

  • On Sept. 24 at 7:25 p.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that he was assaulted by an employee of RJ Daniels, located at 279 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre on Sept. 23 at 3:15 a.m.
  • On Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m., a complainant from Elmhurst reported that he was assaulted by an employee of Cannon's Blackthorn’s, located at 49 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre at approximately 3:30 a.m.
  • On Sept. 23 at 5 a.m., an Oceanside resident reported he lent his phone to a male subject in front of Kasey’s on N. Park Avenue at 3:30 a.m. When he asked the subject to give him the phone back, the subject’s friend punched the victim in the face and they fled with the phone. The victim was treated at SNCH for a laceration to his face.

Domestic Incident

  • On Sept. 24 at 10 p.m., a complainant from Old Mill Court in Rockville Centre reported that her former boyfriend took her car keys and drove her motor vehicle from the vicinity of Wellington Street and N. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre without authorization. On Sept. 25, the complainant reported to police that she recovered the stolen motor vehicle in the vicinity of High Street and Front Street in Hempstead.

Crimes in Malverne, West Hempstead, Valley Stream, Franklin Square and Lakeview:

Burglaries

  • A home on Derrick Adkins Lane in Lakeview was burglarized on Sept. 30.
  • A Brooklyn man was arrested for a burglary that occurred in Valley Stream on Sept. 28. According to Nassau County detectives, Justin Brumell, 26, was observed by a witness entering a backyard at a residence on Charles Street. The defendant allegedly then entered the home through a rear window, took assorted jewelry and fled. Fifth Precinct Police officers located the defendant on Hookcreek Boulevard and placed him under arrest. The proceeds were recovered and upon further investigation, it was determined that the defendant had in his possession jewelry from a prior burglary that had been committed on Sept. 28 at a residence on Brookville Road.
  • The Silver Star Diner on Hempstead Turnpike in Franklin Square was burglarized on Oct. 3.

Grand Larcenies

  • A vehicle parked on S. Montague in Valley Stream was stolen overnight between Sept. 20 and Oct. 1.
  • Two vehicles were stolen from separate locations in Franklin Square on Oct. 2. One had been parked in front of a home on S. Scherer Boulevard and the other on New Hyde Park Road.
  • A landscaping trailer parked on New Hyde Park Road in Franklin Square was broken into between Sept. 26 and Sept. 27. Several items were reportedly taken from inside.
  • Tires and rims were removed from a vehicle parked on Thrush Avenue in Lakeview between Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. The perpetrator also caused damage to the vehicle in the process by wedging a red brick underneath the car.
  • Two men and one woman broke into a Radio Shack kiosk located at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream on Sept. 29. They shattered the glass and took several cell phones.
  • An unknown person removed various auto parts from a vehicle parked on Belpark Avenue in Elmont between Sept. 26 and Sept. 27.

Petit Larcenies

  • A bicycle was stolen from outside the 7-Eleven on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead on Sept. 30. Another bike was stolen later that day outside a TD Bank located on W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream.
  • A bicycle was stolen outside a McDonald’s on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square on Oct. 1.

Larceny/Other Thefts

  • Tires and rims were stolen from vehicles parked on Morris Drive in North Valley Stream and Lucille Avenue in Elmont between Sept. 28 and Sept. 29.
  • A car radio was removed from an unlocked vehicle parked on Wilson Road in Valley Stream between Sept. 2 and Sept. 30.

Criminal Mischief

  • An unknown person shattered the passenger side window of a car parked on Maren Street in West Hempstead on Sept. 27. The driver’s side window of a vehicle parked on Arthur Avenue in South Floral Park was shattered on Oct.  2.
  • Unknown persons damaged two vehicles parked in Valley Stream between Sept. 27 and Sept. 28. One incident involved the passenger side mirror of a car parked on Franklin Avenue. The other car sustained scratches on two separate occasions while parked on Rockaway Avenue.
