Crimes Nearby: Alleged Rape, Gun Fired at Home
A rundown of arrests and incidents that occurred in the past week.
Nearly two years after and assaulting two cops in a bid to elude arrest, a Freeport man was convicted of his crimes and could face up to 25 years in prison, officials said Friday.
It took a jury about three hours to convict Jerry Valery, 41, of Freeport, of two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree assault, second and third degree attempted robbery and resisting arrest.

According to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 22, 2010, Valery entered an Allen Road home by pushing in a dining room window air conditioner and stole assorted jewelry and electronics, including a camera and a laptop computer. Valery tripped the home’s burglary alarm when he entered, and two Rockville Centre police officers quickly arrived at the scene.
Valery was confronted by the officers inside the rear of the home, and violently resisted arrest. Valery repeatedly threw punches at the officers and grabbed one of their firearm holsters before being tased and placed under arrest. Both officers were treated for minor injuries.

Long Beach Police are investigating an alleged rape at the during Memorial Day weekend.
A registered female guest at the beach-side hotel, at 80 W. Broadway, notified security at 4 a.m. last Friday that she was given a date rape drug and raped in a hotel room, according to CBS News.
The hotel turned over surveillance video, which according to one law enforcement source, showed eight men going in and out of the room in question.
“The detectives executed a search warrant at the scene and we’ve conducted extensive interviews with patrons and staff that were there that night,” Sgt. Eric Cregeen, ’s public information officer, told Patch on Thursday. “And the Allegria Hotel has been extremely cooperative with our investigation to date.”
Man Fires Gun at Valley Stream Home
A black male subject armed with a handgun on Tuesday, May 29, chased another man through a rear yard in Valley Stream, then pointed the gun at the homeowner and fired, hitting the house, according to police.
At 11:33 p.m., the 36-year-old male victim saw the suspect — described as 20 to 25 years old with a small build and wearing a white t-shirt and green pants — running after another man, who had an unknown article of clothing covering his face, in the back of his Montgomery Street residence, police said
The victim then noticed the subject point the gun at him and firing one round that hit the house. The homeowner then saw a third man, only described as black, standing in the driveway.
All three of the men fled on foot in an unknown direction. Police did not recover any shell casings. No injuries were reported. The investigation is continuing.

Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Hit and Run
The driver of a dark-colored small vehicle on Sunday struck a 37-year-old man who was riding his bicycle on Brookside Drive in Valley Stream and fled the scene, police said.
At 3:38 a.m., a man was riding his bike when he was hit by the westbound car in the vicinity of Rockaway Avenue, according to police. The motorist then fled south on Rockaway Avenue without stopping.
The victim suffered critical injuries and was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a nearby local hospital.
