Crimes Nearby: Delivery Man Shot at with BB Gun

A round-up of the top crime stories of the week from neighboring communities.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department, Rockville Centre Police Department and Garden City Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate guilt.

Arrests

  • On April 10 at 1:40 p.m., Krista B. Rodgers, 21, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for criminal possession of controlled substance in the seventh degree following an investigation by police personnel at her residence.
  • On April 11 at 2:19 p.m., Karen A. Lynster, 53, of Lynbrook, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and vehicle and traffic law violations following an investigation by police personnel at Sunrise Highway and N. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre.
  • On April 15 at 4:47 a.m., Kevin A. Troope, 36, of Freeport, was arrested for an open arrest warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree that occurred on March 15 at 100 Terrace Ave. in Hempstead following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.
  • On April 17 at 3:10 a.m., Christopher J. Rosario, 43, of Lynbrook, was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree following an investigation by police personnel at Sunrise Highway and N. Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre.
  • On April 18, a joint investigation of a Garden City police officer and a state investigator resulted in the arrest of a 26-year-old male from Farmingdale, who was operating a truck on Railroad Avenue for aggravated unlicensed operation due to a license suspension for a prior DWI arrest. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was charged with 19 additional traffic and safety offenses including unsecured equipment, fuel/oil leaks, defective wiring, defective brakes and defective tires.
  • On April 18, as a result of their investigation, Garden City detectives arrested a 36-year-old male from Freeport for the theft of a pocketbook from a Garden City restaurant on March 1.
  • On April 20, Garden City police officers responded to Washington Avenue where a 12-year-old youth was struck by a vehicle. The youth suffered a serious leg injury requiring a transport via ambulance to Winthrop-University Hospital. Witnesses observed the vehicle leave the scene without stopping and assisted the officers in locating the vehicle nearby. The driver, a 29-year-old from Roosevelt male was arrested for felony leaving the scene of an accident and unlicensed operation. 
  • On April 20, a Garden City police officer stopped a vehicle on Franklin Avenue for driving his auto 55 MPH in a 30-MPH zone on Franklin Avenue. The driver, a 29-year-old male from Valley Stream, was subsequently arrested for DWI (.13 percent blood alcohol content), speeding and a lane violation.
  • On April 21, upon seeing a vehicle on Franklin Avenue strike and jump curbing, a Garden City police officer arrested the driver, a 41-year-old male from Flushing, for DWI (.17 percent blood alcohol content), two unsafe lane changes, not wearing a seat belt and defective headlights.
  • On April 21, a Garden City police officer arrested an 18-year-old female from Uniondale for the theft of $486 in merchandise from Lord & Taylor.
  • On April 22, as a result of an investigation of a road rage incident that occurred in Parking Field 7N on April 11, officers arrested a 54-year-old male from Valley Stream for scratching the car of a 56-year-old male from Elmont with a key several times, causing approximately $1,500 in damage. He was charged with felony criminal mischief.
Burglary
  • On April 12 at 8:25 a.m., a complainant from Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 5 p.m. on April 11 and 7 a.m. on April 12, unknown person(s) apparently damaged a side door, entered a Harvard Avenue residence and stole four air compressors valued at $1,200.
Criminal Contempt
  • On April 13 at 3:05 a.m., a complainant from East Rockaway reported that a female acquaintance violated a stay away order of protection while at Mr. Miceli’s Pizzeria, located at 19 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre.
Reckless Endangerment
  • On April 9 at 9:39 p.m., a complainant from Flushing reported unknown person(s) shot BBs in his direction while making a food delivery in the vicinity of Meehan Lane and N. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre.
