Crimes Nearby: RVC Gunpoint Robbery, Plot to 'Freeze' Out Ex Foiled

A look at the top crimes that occurred in towns surrounding Malverne and West Hempstead this week.

The following crime report and arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County and Lynbrook Police Departments. It does not indicate a conviction.

Four Robbed at Gunpoint on Centre Avenue

Nassau County Police are investigating a two robberies that occurred early Friday morning in Rockville Centre. In one case, two female victims and two male victims, all in their 20s, were approached while walking along the vicinity of 100 N. Centre Ave. by two black male subjects.

The first suspect pointed a black handgun at the victims and demanded their personal property, police said. The suspects fled the scene on foot with credit and I.D. cards, a cell phone, two wallets, a handbag and cash. No injuries were reported. Rockville Centre - Cops Injured During Drug Arrest

Two police officers were injured on Sept. 16 at 9:50 p.m. while arresting Robert F. Davis, 26, of Rockville Centre. Davis was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree assault (2 counts), and resisting arrest following a police investigation on S. Village Avenue and Municipal Parking Field No. 6 in Rockville Centre. The two cops, from the police anti-crime division, sustained back and ankle injuries.

Five Towns - Police: Man Allegedy Poured Anti-Freeze Into Gas Tank

The ex-girlfriend of a Far Rockaway resident allegedly paid another man to pour anti-freeze into her ex's gas tank, police said. Both the ex-girlfriend, Sterrine Campbell 34, of Rockaway Beach, and alleged perpetrator, Charles Marc, 40, were placed under arrest in Inwood early Sunday.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 3 a.m. the male victim, 32, of Far Rockaway, discovered Marc, pouring anti-freeze into the gas tank of the his 1998 Ford Econoline and noticed his  Campbell speeding away from the scene in her 2003 Honda Accord.

Police officers from the Fourth Precinct responded and placed Marc under arrest, police said, and further investigation revealed that Campbell had paid and supplied the anti-freeze to Marc.

Campbell is charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, criminal facilitation in the fourth degree and criminal solicitation in the fourth degree. Marc is charged with criminal mischief in the third degree.

Lynbrook - Arrests:

  • On Sept. 6 at 11:13 p.m., Brooklyn resident Ian Simon, 41, was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • On Sept. 10 at 8:25 p.m., Long Beach resident Fernando Gonzalez, 56, was arrested on Ocean Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • On Sept. 12 at 1 a.m. Mario Lombardo, 22, of Hewlett Harbor, was arrested on Union Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Lynbrook Case Reports:

  • Between 2 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 12, a window and headlight were broken on a 2003 Saturn parked on Stevenson Street in Lynbrook. The damages amounted to $225.
  • On Sept. 14 at 9:46 a.m., $160 worth of merchandise was taken from the Rite Aid Pharmacy, located at 400 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. The two subjects involved were described as black females who left the scene in a dark blue automobile.
