A rundown of crimes that occurred in the past week in areas surrounding Malverne and West Hempstead.

Three Teens Robbed by Group of Men in Valley Stream

Six men held three teenagers to the ground in Valley Stream on Saturday while stealing their possessions, police said.

At around 9:03 p.m., an 18-year-old and two 16-year-old male victims were walking southbound on Fletcher Avenue in Valley Stream when approximately six unknown male black subjects exited a dark colored, late model, Honda Civic and confronted them, according to police.

The subjects attacked the victims and held them down on the ground while taking their cell phones and other personal property. One of the victims sustained swelling and bruising to the face and was treated at the scene.

Man Carjacked After Giving Suspect Ride to Valley Stream

A man who gave a ride to another man from Rosedale to Valley Stream last Tuesday was then punched in the face by the passenger, pulled out of his car, beaten and robbed of his vehicle, police said.

The 36-year-old victim was in his cousin’s 1996 Nissan Maxima in the parking lot of Pathmark, located at 134-40 Springfield Blvd. in Rosedale, at 8:20 p.m. and had just dropped a passenger off, police said. He was then approached by an unknown black man who asked if he could a ride to Valley Stream. The victim agreed and told the man it would cost him $12.

The suspect had the victim pull over in front of 113 Carroll Ave. and punched him in the face, according to police. The driver’s door was then opened and the victim was pulled from the car and thrown to the ground. He was then punched and kicked by two other unknown men.

All three subjects then entered the victim’s car and drove northbound on Carroll Avenue.

The victim, as a result of the altercation, suffered multiple contusions to his face and body. He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.

The victim was unable to provide a description of the two subjects that pulled him from the car, but described the original subject as a black male in his late 30’s, six feet tall with a dark complexion. He had a long thin face and was wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood and a black golf cap.

Proceeds, aside from the car, were $30 cash and a black Boost Mobile cell phone, which were in the vehicle.

A Rockville Centre man was arrested last Monday in Lynbrook after he allegedly attempted to steal Oxycodon from a pharmacy on Atlantic Avenue, according to Nassau County police.

Around 3:15 p.m., Joseph Chieffo, 27, allegedly entered Pickers Pharmacy, jumped over the counter and made verbal demands to the pharmacist for Oxycodon, according to detectives. After obtaining an undetermined amount of pills, Chieffo fled the store on foot, police said. A short time later the he was located at A&B Deli, located at 245 Merrick Road in Lynbrook, and was placed under arrest without incident.

After further investigation by detectives, it was determined that the defendant was also responsible for that occurred at Pickers Pharmacy on Nov. 6.

A Long Beach resident and three fellow Long Island men were arrested last Monday in drug- and loan sharking-related enterprises in Long Beach.

Brian O’Neill, 51, of Minnesota Avenue; Arthur Corso, 48; and John Amabile, both of Island Park; and Richard Gould, 42, of Baldwin were arrested Nov. 7, according to a LBPD press release.

While their charges were not listed on the press release, the LBPD, the release stated, “in conjunction with the Nassau County Police Department, the Nassau County District Attorney's Office, and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) conducted a lengthy narcotics and loan sharking enterprise investigation that culminated with the arrests of O'Neill, Corso and Gould. During the course of investigation three automobiles and over $100,000 in United States Currency were seized.”

Joshua Charczenko, 27, of Long Beach was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Long Beach detectives seized multiple pounds of marijuana from Charczenko along with a shotgun and drug paraphernalia, according to a LBPD press release.
