Crimes Nearby: Rockville Centre Church Burglarized

A rundown of recent crimes in the area.

Arrests

On Oct. 2 at 3:51 a.m., Ramdeen P. Gaya, 57, of Yonkers, was arrested for DWI after being observed operating a motor vehicle in the vicinity of Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre.

On Sept. 29 at 1:59 p.m., Theresa McCarthy, 46, of East Rockaway, was arrested for petit larceny following a police investigation at Home Goods, located at 150 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On Sept. 29 at 2:55 a.m., Douglas E. Gurley, 23, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for false personation following a police investigation in Municipal Parking Field No. 9 in Rockville Centre.

Church Burglary

On Oct. 3 at 8 a.m., complainant business manager from Saint Agnes Cathedral, located at 1 Quealy Place in Rockville Centre, reported that unknown person(s) damaged a garage door and stole an Ariens snow blower valued at $3,000 sometime between Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 6:30 a.m.

Trespass

On Oct. 2 at 12:15 a.m., a complainant from Jewel Avenue in Flushing reported that an unknown person was observed through a rear window of a Dover Court in Rockville Centre residence where she was babysitting.

Criminal Mischief

On Oct. 4 at 7:45 p.m., a complainant from Thomas Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged her 2005 Honda while it was parked at Fonda Road and Knollwood Road in Rockville Centre between 12:45 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.

Unusual Incident

On Oct. 2 at 4:30 p.m., a complainant from Dartmouth Street in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) made three unauthorized debit purchases totaling $642.64 from her Astoria Federal Savings checking account.

On Sept. 29 at 7:25 p.m., a complainant from Dartmouth Street in Rockville Centre reported that on Sept. 20, unknown person(s) accessed his Chase Bank account and withdrew $1,000 without authorization.

On Sept. 29 at 11:45 a.m., a complainant from Lenox Road in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between Sept. 27 at noon and Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m., unknown person(s) entered her 2000 Dodge parked at her apartment building and left the rear passenger door open without authorization.

On Oct. 4 at 1:06 p.m., complainant principal from South Side High School on Shepherd Street in Rockville Centre reported that the parent of a student recovered Facebook messages wherein two known individuals threatened various acts of violence targeting South Side High School and Saint Agnes Cathedral. One subject was taken to NUMC as an aided following an investigation by NC First Squad detectives.
