Crimes Nearby: Suspicious Starbucks Incident, Four Charged with Attempted Murder

A rundown of the top crime stories from areas surrounding Malverne and West Hempstead.

At 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 19, an approximately 30-year-old white male, 6 feet tall, 150 pounds with a thin build, short black hair and blue eyes wearing black jeans, a blue button down shirt and black jacket operating a newer model black Ford Mustang, pulled up to  located at 659 Sunrise Hwy in Lynbrook.

The male started to wave and motion to an 11-year-old boy who was sitting at a table by the front window. The 11-year-old boy did not respond to the man and remained seated. The man then entered the store an ordered a cup of coffee and while exiting the store stopped and said hello to the 11-year-old boy and told him that he knew him. The male then exited the store and left the scene.

Four Charged in Hempstead Stabbing

Four Hempstead men were charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old victim outside the Coco Bar on Fulton Avenue earlier this month.

Cops say the male victim had been standing in front of the bar in Hempstead on Nov. 7 around 3:40 a.m. when he was approached by the men. A verbal argument ensued and then, police say, the four subjects stabbed the victim's head and torso with knives. They fled the scene but were arrested on Nov. 21.

Police identified the attackers as Ciceron Rivera, 23, Klever Rivera, 24, Josael Gonzales, 20, and Barney Rivera, 20, and said they all lived in the same residence. They were charged with attempted murder in the second degree. 

Victim Fights Off Robbers in Elmont

Two men tackled their 22-year-old victim to the ground in Elmont Saturday night, and tried to steal his iPod, according to police. The victim, who had been walking on Waldorf Avenue near Hempstead Turnpike around 11:40 p.m. when he was approached, fought back and regained his property. The two subjects fled on foot and are still at large. They are described as black, 6'feet tall, and around 200 lbs. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.

Police Search For CVS Thieves

The police are seeking the public's help in catching two suspects wanted for a petit larceny that occurred at the CVS store on Dutch Broadway in Elmont earlier this month.

Cops say the two men pictured above entered the store on Nov. 4 around 2:30 p.m. and stole nearly $600-worth of merchandise. They fled in an older model , green, two-door vehicle, possibly a Chevy. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
