Driver Escapes Before Car Bursts Into Flames

Firefighters respond to car fire on West Hempstead-Franklin Square border.

The driver of a small sedan was able to escape his car just before it burst into flames late Wednesday afternoon on the West Hempstead-Franklin Square border.

Franklin Square firefighters arrived quickly at the scene near Willow Road and extinguished the blaze. Nassau County Police also responded. The driver did not sustain any injuries.
