Firefighters Free Trapped Police Officer in Lynbrook Accident

Two injured in the crash, which occurred in front of North Middle School 8 a.m. Monday morning.

 

A Lynbrook police officer and one person were injured Monday morning after their cars collided in front of on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

Firefighters had to cut off both driver and rear doors to remove the injured officer and get him on a stretcher. Both parties were transported to a local hospital by the Emergency Medical Company, and neither were seriously injured.

The Lynbrook Fire Department's Emergency Medical Company, the Extrication Team and Tally-Ho Engine 3 all responded to the scene under the command of First Assistant Chief Anthony DeCarlo. 

Merrick Road was closed for more than an hour following the accident.
