Firefighters Save Home After Truck Ignites in Driveway

A home on the border of West Hempstead and Franklin Square averted disaster due to the prompt response of local firefighters.

The damage could have been far worse for the residents of this Dogwood Avenue house located on the border of West Hempstead and Franklin Square.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday night, a fire broke out inside a truck parked in the driveway of the home. Neighbors reportedly saw flames shooting from the truck and extending to the siding of the house, but thanks to the prompt response of the local fire department, the home sustained minimal damage.

The Franklin Square-Munson Fire Department arrived quickly at the scene and were able to contain the fire so that the only damage the home suffered were some melted side panels. The truck, on the otherhand, was heavily damaged.
