Cops: Syosset Man Surrenders in Hit-and-Run that Killed Teen Girl

A Syosset man has been charged in the deadly hit-and-run that killed a special needs teenager in Levittown, according to Nassau County Police.

Michael Elardo, 48, of Syosset, surrendered to detectives Monday and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, cops said.

Elardo is the alleged driver in a hit-and-run that killed Bryanna Soplin early Sunday morning, police reported.

Police: Port Jeff Mother Left 6-Year-Old Son Home Alone Overnight

A Port Jefferson woman has been arrested after police say she left her 6-year-old son home alone overnight and into Friday afternoon. 

Melissa Weiner, 31, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child. 

Police said Weiner's son was outside and stopped a Port Jefferson Village constable at about 12:25 p.m. Friday and told him he was home alone. 

Cops: Man Bites Officer’s Arm at Huntington Town Meeting

A Huntington man bit a Suffolk County police officer on her arm at a Huntington Town meeting Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Now, Daniel Karpen, 66, is charged with disorderly conduct, assault and other charges for an incident that took place at Huntington Town Hall at 100 Main Street in Huntington at about 6:40 p.m.

Cops Searching for Man Who Robbed Farmingdale Cab Driver at Gunpoint

Nassau police are investigating a robbery that occurred last Sunday at 9:25 a.m. in Farmingdale.

Detectives say a 38-year-old male taxi driver had just dropped off a fare on Main Street and Grant Avenue, when a man entered the cab.  

After he entered the taxi, the man displayed a black and silver handgun and demanded that the victim drive away.

Cops Searching for Man Who Pulled Gun on Greenlawn Cab Driver

Suffolk police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in a taxicab in Greenlawn last Saturday morning.

Police say the passenger in the taxi displayed a gun and demanded money from the driver at 12:15 a.m. on Lantern Street. 

Police: Three Store Clerks Sold Alcohol to Minors

State Police have charged three people, and cited the stores where they work, for selling alcoholic beverages to a minor serving as a police operative, police said. 

On Wednesday, the troopers conducted the Underage Drinker Enforcement Operation in the Town of Southampton. Karen Y. Castillo, 24 of Flanders, a clerk at the Flanders Deli & Grocery,  Josselin Garcia-Aquino, 20, of Riverhead, a clerk in the Hampton Deli, in Flanders, and Marcia C. Cole, 52, of Riverhead, a clerk in the Hess Gas, in Southampton were issued appearance tickets for selling alcoholic beverages to a minor. 

Police: Lindenhurst Man Arrested For Stealing Items From Cars

A Lindenhurst man was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing items from multiple vehicles in Lindenhurst during the past week, police said. 

Matthew Hyland, 26, is charged with three counts of petty larceny and three counts of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. 

Police: Pizza Delivery Man Robbed Near Island 16 Movie Theater

A pizza delivery man was robbed Monday night as he left a hotel near the Island 16 movie theater in Holtsville, police said. 

The incident occurred at 9:40 p.m. as the 67-year-old delivery man was exiting the Residence Inn on Middle Avenue. The delivery man was knocked to the ground by two males, police said. 

Police: Man Drove With 3-Year-Old While on Drugs

A Middle Island man was high on drugs and driving with a 3-year-old in his car early Sunday morning on the Long Island Expressway in Medford, police said. 

According to police, Shea McClave, 25, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet eastbound on the LIE near exit 65 when he was pulled over for failing to maintain his lane at about 1:50 a.m. The 3-year-old daughter of McGlave's girlfriend was a passenger in the car, police said. 

Police: Central Islip Man Stabbed With Beer Bottle in Critical Condition

A Central Islip man was arrested early Monday morning after he stabbed another Central Islip man in the neck with a broken beer bottle, police said.

According to police, Reginald Bonelli, 29, became involved in a physical altercation with a 23-year-old man while they were visiting the home of a mutual friend at 173 Powell Ave in Central Islip, police said.
