Lynbrook Crime Report: Dawes Avenue Burglary, Identity Theft

A look at recent crime and arrests in the Lynbrook area.

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is an accusation, and does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests

- On Oct. 21 at 3:58pm Gaetano Delia 53, of Medford, was arrested and charged with robbery for an incident that occurred at the Bank of America, located at 300 Merrick Rd.

- On Oct. 21 at 10:45pm Yuliya L. Hurbo 24, of New York, NY was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal possession of a controlled substance on Sherman St.

- On Oct. 23 at 9:55pm Rosina X. Murray 30, of Arverne, NY was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, unregistered motor vehicle, improper plates, uninspected motor vehicle and uninsured motor vehicle on Niemann Ave.

- On Oct. 24 at 11:34am Angelo Vita 43, of East Rockaway, NY was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation (warrant), aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding on Sunrise Hwy.

-On Oct. 28 at 10:35am Vladimir Rodriguez 23, of S. Ozone Park, NY was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance (3 counts), unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding on Sunrise Hwy. 

- On Oct. 30 at 5:15pm Russell E. Bell 57, of West Hempstead,  was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident for an accident that occurred on Walnut St. 

- On Oct. 30 at 9:00pm Cristina M. White 30, of Valley Stream, NY was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding on Merrick Rd.

Case Reports

Unusual/Suspicious Incident - At 8:00pm on Oct. 21, the complainant reports that while her 10-year-old grandson was playing an online video game, one of the other players began typing offensive sexual themed statements.     

Identity Theft - At 11:55am on Oct. 22,  the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) made four unauthorized charges on their Discover credit card. The total amount of charges is $252.90.   

Burglary - At 10:35am on Oct. 24, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) entered their residence, located at 44 Dawes Avenue, by pushing in the front window. The unknown person(s) then removed three Toshiba laptop computers. The computers are valued at $1,400. The computers were taken between 4:30 pm Wednesday, Oct. 23 and 9:20am on Thursday, Oct. 24.
