Arson Arrest at Sunrise Motor Inn; Taxi Passenger Robbed of $7,800

A look at recent crime and arrests in the Lynbrook area.

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is an accusation, and does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests

- On October 8 at 10:30pm, Wilfredo Torres, 32, of Massapequa, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation and speeding on Sunrise Highway.

- On October 9, at 4:40pm, Iffat Munir 24, of Brooklyn,  was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and suspended registration on Merrick Road.

- On October 10 at 11:55am, Thomas C. Mone, 44, of Levittown, NY was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding on Sunrise Highway.

- On October 10 at 12:45pm, Diquan U. Booker, 25, of Uniondale, was arrested and charged with arson that occurred at the Sunrise Motor Inn, Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

- On October 10 at 2:00pm, Jesse Quinones, 22, of Valley Stream,  was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana on Canterbury Gate.

- On October 11 at 8:50am, John Adorno 42, of Bronx, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to signal on Sunrise Highway.

- On October 13 at 3:46am, Daniel C. Banner, 25, of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and unsafe lane change on Ocean Avenue.

- On October 13 at 10:45pm, Robert W. Ellis 33, of Amityville, was arrested and charged with a Town of Hempstead Code Violation for no company sign on motor vehicle (warrant) on Merrick Road.

Case Reports

Assault - At 12:45am on October 10, the complainant reports that while at the Purple Frog Pub, located at 267A Merrick Rd., they were involved in an argument about the rules of the game when the complainant was assaulted by another patron, who was not involved in the argument.   

Lost Property - At 7:10pm on October 11, the complainant reports that they lost their Samsung Galaxy cell phone in the vicinity of Peninsula Boulevard and Everett Street. The value of the phone is $400.

Robbery - At 8:05pm on October 12, the complainant reports that after taking a taxi to his residence, located on Dawes Avenue, the complainant was robbed by the taxi driver. The total amount of the money taken is $7,800.
