Lynbrook Crime Report, Pt. II: Forgery at Jewelry Store, $55K Van Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is an accusation, and does not indicate a conviction. 

Case Reports

Grand Larceny: At 6:16pm on Dec. 9, the complainant reports that their American Express Credit Card was removed from their vehicle while it was parked at 815 Sunrise Hwy.

Petty Larceny: At 12:30am on Dec. 10, the complainant reports that their X-Box One gaming console was taken from their residence on Duryea Place. The value of the console is $499.

Petty Larceny: At 9:10am on Dec. 10, the complainant, the branch manager of Hertz Car Rental located at 56 Horton Ave., reports that $400 is missing from the safe located in the office.

Forgery: At 12:50pm on Dec. 10, the complainant, the accounting manager of Janel Group of 303 Merrick Rd., reports that an unknown person(s) attempted to make two unauthorized charges on their Community National Bank account by using forged checks.

Forgery: At 12:00pm on Dec. 10, the complainant, the owner of Mastercraft Jewelry of 150 Vincent Ave., reports that an unknown person(s) cashed two forged checks on the complainant’s HSBC account. The total amount of the checks is $1,033.60.

Identity Theft: At 4:30pm on Dec. 12, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) opened three credit card accounts in their name and made unauthorized charges on the accounts. The total amount of the charges is $5,000.

Criminal Mischief: At 2:42pm on Dec. 15, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) damaged their 2002 Honda by breaking the rear windshield while it was parked in the driveway of their residence on Sherman Street. The total amount of the damage is $200.

Petty Larceny - At 1:33pm on Dec. 16, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) removed packages, which were delivered by UPS, from the front of their residence on Marshall Avenue. The packages were valued at $197.21.

Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument: At 12:45pm on Dec. 17, the complainant, the owner of the Shell Gas Station located at 257 Merrick Road, reports that a customer did pay for their gasoline purchase with two counterfeit 20 dollar bills.

Grand Larceny: At 12:12pm on Dec. 20, the complainant, the owner of Vint and York located at 68 Atlantic Ave., reports that eight pairs of sunglasses were removed without their permission. The glasses are valued at $1,032.

Burglary: At 7:15pm on Dec. 21, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) pried open the side door of their residence located at 144 Buckingham Pl. The complainant found their bedroom ransacked. The complainant reports nothing missing from the residence.

Grand Larceny: At 5:08pm on Dec. 23, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) removed their 2011 Honda from their driveway located on Davison Ave. The valued of the vehicle is $10,000. The vehicle was recovered in Inwood.

Petty Larceny/Criminal Mischief: At 7:46pm on Dec. 23, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) broke the passenger side window of their Honda CRV while it was parked at Sportime, located 175 Merrick Rd. The person(s) removed the box from their Apple MacBook Pro, which contained the paperwork, starter disc and manuals from their computer.

Grand Larceny/Criminal Mischief: At 7:10pm on Dec. 23,  the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) broke the driver’s side window of their 2013 Ford while it was parked at Sportime located 175 Merrick Rd. The person(s) did remove the complainant’s wallet, credit cards, gift cards, shoes and sweatshirts. The total amount of damage and loss is $625.

Criminal Mischief: At 10:00pm on Dec. 23, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) did break the rear windshield of their 2013 Nissan while it was parked at Synergy located 640 Merrick Rd. The total amount of damage is $250.

Grand Larceny/Criminal Mischief: At 8:40pm on Dec. 23, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) broke front driver’s side window of their 2008 Cadillac while it was parked at Synergy located 640 Merrick Rd. The person(s) removed the complainant’s wallet, credit cards, driver’s license and $500. The total amount of damage and loss is $1,050.

Grand Larceny: At 6:26pm on Dec. 26,  the complainant, the manager of Avis Rent a Car located at 55 Sunrise Hwy., reports that their 2014 Ford Econoline van was stolen from the east side of their building. The value of the van is $55,000.

Identity Theft: At 7:55pm on Dec. 26, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) use their Chase Debit card and did make unauthorized charge on the account. The total amount of the charge is $23.42.
