Lynbrook Crime Report, Pt. II: Stolen Car Recovered at Capri, Assault

A look at recent crime and arrests in the Lynbrook area.

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is an accusation, and does not indicate a conviction.

Case Reports

Lost Property: At 5:30pm on Jan. 6, the complainant reports that walking on Central Ave they lost their black leather bag which contained their Republic of India Passport and $250. 

Recovered Stolen Property: At 11:00am on Jan. 8,  a 2008 Honda CRV, which was reported stolen in Suffolk County on Jan. 6, was recovered in the private parking area of Capri Motor Inn, located at 5 Freer Street

Criminal Mischief: At 10:03pm on Jan. 9,  the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) damaged their 2000 Ford Explorer, by scratching it with an unknown object, while it was parked in the rear of 88 Atlantic Ave. The total amount of the damage is $500.

Assault: At 4:22pm on Jan. 11, the complainant, while standing at the bar area of Mary MacNamara’s located at 44 Stauderman Avenue, reports that an unknown person(s) struck them in the rear of their head with a clenched fist causing an injury. The subject ran from the scene through the side door into the parking area

Petty Larceny: At 2:40pm on Jan. 12, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) removed several Christmas decorations from, their front yard on Oak Street. The decorations, a 3’ tall Angel and a 3’ tall Manger Set, are valued at $300. 

Criminal Mischief: At 10:00am on Jan. 13, the complainant reports that an unknown person(s) damaged their 2013 Toyota Rav, by scratching it with an unknown object, while it was parked in front of 9 Union Avenue. The total amount of the damage is $400.

Note: The following property reported missing in last week’s crime report was recovered by the owner inside their vehicle.

Lost Property: At 9:00pm on Jan. 2, the complainant reports that their wallet was lost in the vicinity of McDonald’s, located at 121 Merrick Rd. The wallet contained their NYS driver’s license, Visa credit card and NYC taxi license. The total loss is $38.
