Lynbrook High School Hosts Drug Disposal Program
Operation Medicine Cabinet, held at the high school on Dec. 1, was deemed a big success.
The Lynbrook Police Department and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) teamed up to sponsor the second annual “Operation Medicine Cabinet.”
The police department, in cooperation with SADD, was on hand at the High School on the evening of Dec. 1 to collect expired, unused or unwanted medications, which will be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.
“Once again, the program was a huge success,” said Chief Joseph Neve of the Lynbrook Police Department. “This collaborative effort between the Lynbrook Police Department and the Lynbrook High School SADD Club to collect and properly dispose of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications has the potential to save lives.”

During Operation Medicine Cabinet, club members also handed out “emergency rescue” taxi coupons that can be used by fellow students 24/7 to get a free ride home if they find themselves in an unsafe social situation or need to avoid riding with someone who is intoxicated.
The Lynbrook High School SADD Club is dedicated to providing students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions. Students work under the guidance of faculty advisor Karen Aquino.
