Lynbrook Police Holds 'Operation Medicine Cabinet' For Unwanted Drugs

Residents had the chance to dispose unwanted drugs on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The , in partnership with Lynbrook Cub Scout Pack #85, hosted an “Operation Medicine Cabinet” event at Lynbrook’s on Saturday, Oct. 1. This program gives residents the opportunity to dispose of expired, unused or unwanted prescription and over the counter drugs in an environmentally safe manner.

“The program was a huge success," said Chief Joseph Neve of the Lynbrook Police Department. "With the help of Lynbrook Cub Scout Pack #85, we were able to collect over 225 containers of unneeded / unwanted drugs."

Neve thanked residents for participating in the event and warned of the dangers of drug abuse.

“Although legal, these medications have the potential to cause just as much harm as any illegal drug when abused," Neve said. "The Lynbrook Police Department has made it a priority to remove them from the community.”
