Lynbrook Woman Arrested for DWAI, Two Kids in Car

The defendant allegedly struck a gas station pump out in Shirley.

A Lynbrook woman was arrested in Shirley Monday morning after allegedly driving under the influence of drugs while her two sons were in the car.

According to Suffolk County Police, around at 8:15 a.m., Jennifer Drozdowicz, 37, was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero in the parking lot of the Coastal Gas Station, located at 461 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, when her vehicle struck one of the station’s gas pumps, causing minor damage.

Drozdowicz had her two sons, ages 4 and 5, in the vehicle at the time of the crash, police said. The children, who were not injured, were released to family members.

Seventh Squad detectives charged Drozdowicz with driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger, a felony under Leandra’s Law, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Drozdowicz will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Tuesday.
