Magarie Wins Third Term in West Hempstead Fire District

Incumbent Ronald Magarie defeats challenger Bill D'Alessandro in Tuesday's fire commission elections.

Ronald Magarie won the support of roughly 75 percent of voters who turned out to the West Hempstead fire house Tuesday for the latest fire commission election.

Magarie, 54, who has served on the board of commissioners for the West Hempstead fire district for the past decade, defeated challenger Bill D'Alessandro, 330-111, to earn a third term.

"The taxpayers have spoken," Magarie told Patch from the fire house Tuesday night after the votes had been counted. "We're going to move the department in a positive direction and keep doing what we've been doing."
