Malverne Boy, 8, Dies in Upstate ATV Accident

Funeral service for Alex Huertas, 8, will be held on Friday at The Bridge Church in Malverne.

A Malverne boy was killed in an ATV accident in upstate New York this weekend, New York State Police said in a release. 

Police said that Alex Huertas, 8, was transported to Grover M. Hermann Hospital in Callicoon, NY, where he was pronounced dead Saturday evening.  

Huertas was a member of the Malverne Little League where his father Ozzie is a current board member and coach. 

The Malverne Little League has extended their condolences to the Huertas family on their website:

"Alex will be greatly missed, forever cherished and always remembered. We wish to extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Huertas family during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers."  

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, August 28 and 29, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home, Inc. 

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 11 a.m. at The Bridge Church in Malverne.
