Malverne won a first place trophy at the New York State Old Fashioned Fire Drill Tournament held Friday night in Hempstead.
The Chipmunks scurried down the track and up a ladder in only 7.93 seconds to beat out the other 13 teams in the "running ladder" event. They also came in third place in the Efficiency hose event and tied with Freeport for fourth in Efficiency Replacement.
So far this season, Malverne's fire drill team has won the Nassau County Championship for the second consecutive year, the 4th Battalion, and 2-3-4 Battalion Drill tournaments.
The Chipmunks have one more competition left this year, the Old Fashioned Charity Drill on Sept. 8 in Bayville at Centre Island. It will start at noon.
