Malverne F.D., EMS Rescue Driver Pinned Against Tree

Crash shuts down eastbound traffic on the Southern State Parkway for nearly an hour.

Firefighters from Malverne and Nassau County EMS units worked for more than 30 minutes Saturday evening to free a woman who was severely pinned inside her car after it struck a tree along the Southern State Parkway.

The female driver had been involved in a two-car crash on the Southern State near the Franklin Avenue exit in North Valley Stream. Her vehicle struck a tree off the roadway, trapping her inside and pinning her against the tree.

Eastbound traffic on the parkway near Exit 15 was closed for nearly an hour. Eastbound traffic was halted at the Franklin Avenue overpass and backed up to the city line while rubbernecking caused heavy delays on the westbound sie of the parkway.
