Mishap Sends Car Through West Hempstead Store

A van smashed through the glass window of a carpet store in West Hempstead Monday.

A driver-less vehicle crashed through the glass storefront of a carpet shop in West Hempstead Monday afternoon.

The tan minivan had been tethered to a tow truck, which had been travelling westbound on Hempstead Turnpike on May 9, when somehow it became unhinged.

The car flew backwards, crossed two lanes of eastbound traffic and collided into the large plate glass window of Nahas Rug Co., located on the corner of Spruce Street and Hempstead Turnpike.
