Motorcycle, SUV Collide in West Hempstead

Crash provokes discussion on need for traffic signal at intersection.

Two people were injured early Sunday afternoon when an SUV and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of Dogwood Avenue and Baldwin Drive in West Hempstead.

The driver of the motorcycle was knocked to the ground from the impact of the crash and an occupant of the SUV was also treated and transported to a nearby hospital.

Several neighbors at the scene of the May 29 crash were involved in a lively discussion about the need for a traffic signal at the intersection, which has a limited sight line for drivers.
