Nassau PD: Gas Siphoning, Bricks Break Windows, Gun Pulled on Dinner Guests

A weekly rundown of crimes committed in West Hempstead, Lakeview, N. Lynbrook and the rest of the recently realigned Fourth Precinct.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

ROBBERY

  • Marcus Pettway, 25, of Rockville Centre, was arrested on Nov. 13 and charged with robbing the Bank of America located at 60 Hempstead Ave. in West Hempstead. Click here for the story.
  • Albert Hendrickson, 52, and his wife, Darlene Schunk-Hendrickson, 50, both of West Hempstead, were arrested on Nov. 10 and charged with four counts of robbery (first and second degree) and criminal use of a firearm in the first degree after police say they stole a necklace and ring from one of their dinner guests and then threatened the couple with a shotgun. LARCENIES

  • An unknown person siphoned gas out of two vehicles parked on Nassau Boulevard in Garden City South on Oct. 30.
  • An unknown person removed a GPS and a cell phone from a vehicle parked on McKinley Street in Franklin Square on Oct. 28.

DWI

  • Christine M. Croke, 44, of Arverne, was arrested for DWI at the intersection of Mill Road and Peninsula Boulevard in Hewlett on Oct. 31.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

  • Unknown persons caused damage to a vehicles parked on Clubside Drive in Woodmere on Oct. 30 and on Merril Place in Inwood between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
  • An unknown person threw a rock at the windows of a residence on Bart Street in East Rockaway on Oct. 30.
  • An unknown person threw a brick through the rear window of a vehicle parked on Salem Road in Valley Stream on Oct. 31
  • An unknown person threw a brick through the window of the attendant's box at the Gas Stop on Sheridan Boulevard in Inwood on Oct. 31.
  • An unknown person caused damage to a vehicle parked on S. Hicks Street in Valley Stream between Oct. 8 and Oct. 9.
  • An unknown person caused damage to a vehicle parked on Atherton Avenue in Elmont on Nov. 1.
  • An unknown person broke a window at the Franklin Square Library located at 19 Lincoln Road on Nov. 4.

The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
