Nassau PD: West Hempstead Business Burglarized, Items Stolen From Cars

A weekly rundown of crimes committed in West Hempstead, Lakeview, N. Lynbrook and the rest of the Fifth Precinct.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

BURGLARIES

on Hempstead Avenue in West Hempstead was burglarized between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26.

Two Valley Stream homes -- one on W. Wheeler Avenue and another on S. Montague Street -- were burglarized on Aug. 22 and Aug. 25, respectively.

Valley Van Conversions, located on W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream, was burglarized on Aug. 27.

GRAND LARCENIES

A vehicle parked on Lexington Avenue in Franklin Square was stolen on Aug. 21.

Three cars were stolen while parked in Valley Stream -- on Wood Lane, N. Grove Street and W. Merrick Road -- between Aug. 18 and Aug. 26.

Tires and rims were stolen off of a vehicle parked on Barrymore Boulevard in Franklin Square between Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.

Tires and rims were also stolen from South Shore Honda on W. Merrick Road in Valley Stream between Aug. 22 and Aug. 23.

PETIT LARCENY

An unknown suspect removed a bicycle from the yard of a Valley Stream home on Carroll Avenue on Aug. 20.

LARCENIES

Several items, including a GPS unit, were stolen from three cars -- two parked on Howard Avenue and one on Hawthorne Street -- in West Hempstead between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. One of the victims on Howard Avenue reported that his car was left unlocked while the other says his vehicle was locked.

An unknown person stole items from an unlocked work van parked on Woodfield Road in Lakeview between Aug. 22 and Aug. 23.

A GPS unit was stolen by an unknown person from an unlocked vehicle parked on Rifton Street in Elmont on Aug. 22.

One tire and one rim was reported missing from a car parked in the driveway of home on Ethel Street in Valley Stream on Aug. 22.

An unknown suspect stole property from a vehicle parked on W. Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream on Aug. 23.

Property was stolen from a vehicle parked on 116th Avenue in Elmont on Aug. 24.

An unknown person damaged the rear window of a car parked on the corner of Elmont Road and Cromer Rd E in Elmont on Aug. 26 and stole a pocketbook from inside.

An iPod and USC was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in Valley Stream between Aug. 25 and 26.

An unknown suspect broke the windshield of a station wagon parked on the corner of Cochran Place and Debois Avenue in Valley Stream on Aug. 27 and stole a bicycle. 

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

A victim on Evans Avenue in Elmont reported on Aug. 25 that an unknown suspect broke the passenger side window of his vehicle.

So much for the grand plan of closing local police precincts. Anyone out there in Nassau County PD making that connection? The crooks are having a field day and winning big. Where are the benefits of the highest taxes in the state!
