Nearby: Robbery at Valley Stream Deli

Suspect simulated having a gun and robbed Valley Deli Friday evening.

A man walked into a Valley Stream deli Friday evening, simulating that he had a gun and demanded money from the register.

According to Nassau County police, a male black subject entered the Valley Deli, located at 1021 Elmont Road, approached the 35-year-old male store clerk, walked behind the counter with his hand in his pocket.

After removing an undisclosed amount cash from the register drawer and placing it in his pocket, the subject also took loose cigars, 15 cartons of Newport cigarettes and placed the items in a blue garbage bag that belonged to the store.

The subject then fled the store and was last seen eastbound on Oliver Avenue.

The store clerk, who was not injured during the incident, described the subject as a male black, 5’6” tall, 30 years old, wearing a stocking mask over his face, white gloves, a camouflage hoodie, an olive colored sweat shirt and grey sweatpants.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this Robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

@jaimesumersille, you indicate in the article that the perpetrator was "simulating that he had a gun...". But as I finished the article I'm not clear on how we know there was no actual gun. I think it's better to assume the robber was actually carrying a gun unless there is evidence to the contrary.

That’s very nice that school districts that have the highest school taxes and costs, areRead More receiving additional money. The problem is that our state is in dire financial trouble and we can’t afford it. Upstate NY is a distressed disaster. How much more taxes are we going to pay?. Hear those feet marching out of state. Try fighting for drilling so we have jobs and revenue.

.......there they go again whitewashing a dilemma they don't want to touch......unconscionableRead More salaries and pensions paid by the taxpayer for incompetence? Not to mention 13 week vacations as well as numerous 1/2 days and weather shortened days. A $50000 band aid we end up paying indirectly anyway only increases taxes further down the road. They are either that stupid or they think we are!
