Subject fled with victim's property Monday morning, police said

A Valley Stream car dealership employee early Monday was punched in the face, threatened with a knife and robbed of his belongings, police said.

At 6:48 a.m., the 30-year-old male victim had just entered South Shore Hyundai, at 599 West Merrick Rd., when an unknown perpetrator punched him in the face, according to police. The victim fell to the floor with pain to his face, left arm and lower back.

The subject — described as an approximately 6-foot-tall black man with a heavy build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt — then took out a knife and demanded the victim’s personal property and keys. Fearing for his safety, the victim handed over his keys and wallet containing credit cards, personal papers and an undetermined amount of money.

Before the perpetrator fled the scene, he damaged a desk and threw items off the counter. He was last seen fleeing eastbound on Merrick Road.

Detectives request that anyone with information about this crime should contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
