Pedestrian Struck in West Hempstead

A woman was struck crossing Hempstead Turnpike.

A female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead early Friday evening.

The woman was allegedly crossing Hempstead Turnpike at Westminster Road in an area outside the marked crosswalk when she was struck by a small sedan, according to witnesses.

The driver immediately stopped to offer assistance.

The injured pedestrian was transported to Winthrop Hospital by West Hempstead Fire Department ambulance.

The extent of her injuries were unknown.
