Pedestrian Struck on Sunrise Near Atlantic

The 20-year-old pedestrian is recovering after being hit by a car early Thursday morning.

A 20-year-old male was struck by a car while trying to cross Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook early Thursday morning.

According to the Lynbrook Police Department, around 1 a.m., the pedestrian was attempting to cross Sunrise Highway, from the south side to the north side, approximately 100 fest west of Atlantic Avenue when he was struck by a 2005 Nissan.

The Nissan, operated by a 43-year-old Laurelton woman, was traveling westbound on Sunrise Highway at the time of the accident, police said.

The pedestrian was transported to South Nassau Community Hospital where he recovering from his injuries, police said. The operator of the Nissan was not injured and no tickets were issued.
