Police Break Up Large Fight in West Hempstead

Cops respond to altercation near Western Beef and West130 apartment complex.

At least a dozen police cars descended upon the area near Western Beef supermarket and the new West 130 apartment complex in West Hempstead Saturday morning to break up a large fight.

Both marked and unmarked police cars and a Nassau County Police helicopter responded around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 17 to the intersection of Hempstead Avenue and Westminster Road, where an altercation was in progress.

A spokesman for the Nassau County Police did not have any details about the fight.

The residents of WH need to unite in order to save our community. All religions and races that live in this community need to act as one and show concern for all of WH, not just the part that you live in. Join your civic assoc, contact your local politicians, and your police dept. That area needs surveillance constantly.

I was thinking the same thing about who will want to rent those new apartments. WH residents to have to go to the civic meetings for information about our community and how we each can help and be aware of what is going on in WH.

We sure do need to unite as a community. When I go to Stop and shop early mornings you should see what comes out of that motel...trash and fights all the time. Horrible.

Welcome to the new America! 51% of Americans voted for this. No personal responsibility, someone else is the reason for your problems (usually someone who actually works and tries to maintain a standard of living, whether they earn $40K or $5M), and government dependency( and NO I'm not talking about seniors, veterans or people using the system as a hand UP at a time of need, but of the generational government dependency) Joining your town organizations and if everyone helped with just one event a year would help to build a thriving metropolis and stop the blight that is creeping in. From looking at the pictures, it was "adults" involved in this fight. What was a large group of "adults" doing at this street corner at 6:30AM? If it was working people waiting for a bus, I highly doubt they would have been in a mindset that required all the emergency cars and a helicopter!

I'm sure the parties involved were fine upstanding citizens...it's only going to get worse. How unfortunate.
