Police: Gunman Pistol-Whipped Teen in West Hempstead

Cops continue to search for four subjects in Monday's attempted robbery.

A teen walking along Chestnut Street in West Hempstead Monday night was pistol-whipped during an attempted armed robbery, police say.

Nassau County Police are searching for four men who they say approached the 18-year-old male victim around 11:50 p.m. on Aug.  5, ordering him to empty his pockets.

One of the subjects had a handgun, detectives say, and when the victim replied that he had nothing, he struck him on the head with the weapon, causing a laceration to his head. They then left the scene on foot in an unknown direction with no proceeds.
