Homicide Victim Identified
Maria Ayala, 62, of Hempstead, found with gunshot wound to the head.
Nassau police have identified the woman found dead in a car on Merrick Road in Lynbrook Sunday morning.
A Lynbrook police officer on patrol found Maria Ayala, 62, of Hempstead, N.Y., dead in the driver's seat of a 1991 Toyota Corolla, which was parked at 266 Merrick Road, at 8:40 a.m. Sunday. Police say she had "an apparent gunshot wound to head."
Police provided no further details. The investigation is ongoing.
