A wife and her husband were found dead Thursday morning inside their North Lynbrook home.

The couple had been married for more than 20 years. No names have been released, but family members of the deceased have been notified.

The bodies were discovered after a home health care aid went to the home Thursday morning and found the door was locked, cops said.

Police say the aid contacted the female victim's daughter who then called someone who had a key to the home. That person arrived, entered the home and police were then contacted, according to detectives.

The woman was found in her bed, and her husband's body was on the floor nearby, according to police. Detectives said the woman had been ill but her exact condition was not released. The small one-story home had a wheelchair ramp attached in the front.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice was also at the scene. The DA's spokesman, Chris Munzing, told Patch "the victim in the case is related to an employee in our office."

Catherine Street was still closed off around 2 p.m. Thursday as Nassau County detectives and the medical examiner continued to investigate the scene.

This is a developing story, which Patch will update as new information becomes available.
