The bomb squad sent in a remote-controlled robot to assess the suitcase around 3:30 p.m. and then used the machine to detonate any possible explosives that the package may have contained, but there were none.
A section of Hempstead Avenue between Hempstead Turnpike and Woodfield Road had been closed during the investigation but was reopened shortly before 4:30 p.m.Â
