Prostitution Arrests Continue at West Hempstead Spa

Two Flushing women arrested Wednesday afternoon at Hempstead Turnpike day spa.

Two Flushing women were arrested for prostitution Wednesday at a West Hempstead day spa that has now had a total of eight women arrested over the course of the last two months.

The arrests came at Lucy Day Spa, located at 300 Hempstead Turnpike, around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. According to Nassau County detectives, an undercover operation determined that Xiuli Gao, 41, and Shu Wen Ai, 44, were practicing massage therapy without a license.

Additionally, both defendants offered to engage in a sexual act for an undisclosed amount of money, police said. They were taken into custody without incident.

Gao and Ai are being charged with unauthorized practice of a crime and prostitution. They will be arraigned on Thursday 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Six women were arrested at the same spa in January, four of whom were charged with prostitution.

The last arrest at 300 Hempstead Turnpike prior to Wednesday came on Jan. 23 when the spa was known as Royal Day Spa. Police said that after being shut down, the spa changed names and reopened.

Two other women were arrested on Jan. 15 at Shunyuan Spa Inc., located at 357 Hempstead Turnpike, just down the road from Lucy Day Spa. One of the defendants was charged with prostitution.

You will never get rid of it, but what has to be done is exactly what the NCPD is doing: keep making arrests and make sure these actions are publicized. Make potential customers think about the risk of patronizing these places and make them understand that Nassau County will not tolerate these businesses.
