School Bus Bursts into Flames in Valley Stream

The blaze was spotted from down Merrick Road near Cornwell Avenue.

There was an explosion in an unoccupied school bus around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to witnesses.

The school bus burst into flames near the bus depot on the corner of Merrick Road and Cornwell Avenue in Valley Stream.

According to Newsday [paid link]:

A spokeswoman for Veterans Transportation, the Valley Stream company that owns the bus, said no one was injured and confirmed the bus was parked and unoccupied when it either caught fire or exploded.
