Prison Sentence for WH Man Who Sexually Abused 13-Year-Old

David Boutin will serve jail time for August 2012 incident.

A West Hempstead man was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday after sexually abusing of a 13-year-old boy back in August 2012.

Suffolk County Police arrested David Boutin, now 43, on Aug. 17 at the Long Island Power Authority property, located north of Route 25A in Shoreham.

A Seventh Precinct patrol officer, who was searching a utilities access road for a stolen dirt bike, observed Boutin sitting with a child in the rear seat of a blue 2010 Toyota Corolla and arrested him.

According to Newsday [paid link], Boutin pleaded guilty earlier this year to three counts of criminal sexual act in the second degree, two counts of sex abuse in the second degree, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor.

"I am very well aware of the pain and suffering I've caused from my actions," Boutin said shortly before Suffolk County Court Judge Barbara Kahn imposed sentence. "Clearly, I should have known better."
