Single-Car Accident Leaves Pole Down in Front of West Hempstead High School

LIPA was on the scene repairing the pole; there were no injuries.

A single-car accident from earlier in the evening on Wednesday had LIPA workers on hand until after midnight in front of West Hempstead High School.

According to police, the car went up on the curb directly in front of the school and hit into a light pole, part of which fell and was suspended by the power lines attached to it. There were no reported power outages or injuries.

Several LIPA employees were working to repair the pole before morning.

Two 5th Precinct squad cars had Nassau Boulevard shut down between West Hempstead Middle School and High School as of 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday.
