Two Women Arrested After Fight Near Lakeview Train Station

Police observed one woman holding a knife during the fight.

Two Hempstead women were arrested Monday night after an altercation involving a knife on Woodfield Road near the Lakeview Long Island Rail Road Train Station.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 11:15 p.m., Fourth Precinct police officers responded to a fight at 688 Woodfield Road.

Upon police arrival, Juanita Braxton, 26, was observed holding a knife to the victim, Tammy Taylor, 43, causing multiple lacerations to her face, police said. The officers ordered Braxton to drop the knife and placed her into custody.

Taylor was transported by a Nassau County Ambulance and treated at a local hospital, police said. Braxton was also treated for a laceration to her left middle finger.

During the investigation it was discovered that Taylor had an open warrant for menacing from another incident that occurred on Sept. 27.

Braxton is being charged with two counts assault in the first degree and possession of a dangerous weapon in the fourth degree.

Taylor is being charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and menacing in the second degree.

Both women will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
