Twas the night before Christmas and all through West Hempstead,
Was the sound of sirens and trucks that are bright red.
All the children waited eagerly for the moment to arrive
When a fire truck carrying Santa Claus would whiz by...
The West Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department held its annual holiday parade Saturday night. At sundown, a fleet of trucks departed from the firehouse on Hempstead Turnpike, including one covered in Christmas lights, carrying a tree and Santa Claus. New this year, the parade also included a truck decorated in blue lights featuring a Hanukkah menorah.
Throughout the night the parade moved throughout West Hempstead, visiting nearly every block in the fire district.
