  1. Shooting in Lakeview: Nassau County Police are seeking the public's help in tracking down an unidentified shooter who opened fire on a young man waiting for a bus in Lakeview. Cops are looking to nab the gunman and two other subjects who fled in the same after the shooting, which occurred early Saturday morning. All callers will remain anonymous.or more information.
  2. CYO Basketball Begins: The Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Youth Organization begins its basketball program today for youngsters in Kindergarten through second grade. This is a clinic which runs on Saturdays from mid- January to mid-March. The organization also has a basketball league for third through eighth graders.  All games and sessions take place on Howard T. Herber Middle School. For more information,
  3. Race to End Hunger: On Sunday, the will be collecting food items for families in need at Belmont Racetrack. All community members are invited to bring donations of canned goods and one pound bags or boxes of white rice to guest services on Sunday.Learn more by .

Last Chances for January 16th:Even though it's Jan. 22, you still have time left to see The Night of January 16th, a gripping courtroom play written by acclaimed author Ayn Rand that is currently running at Hofstra University. There will be an 8p.m. performance on Saturday and a 2p.m. matinee tomorrow. The cast includes a real Nassau County judge and a man from West Hempstead - a graduate of and a chiropractor who lives and practices in the community today - who spoke with Patch this week about the play.
