West Hempstead F.D. Fights Garage Fire Near SHA
While Hempstead firefighters battled a blaze on one side of town, West Hempstead handled a garage fire across from Sacred Heart Academy.
With the Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department occupied with a house fire, West Hempstead firefighters responded to a second blaze that broke out inside a garage across from Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead Monday morning.
Flames from the garage fire on Cathedral Avenue could be seen from blocks away, but firefighters from West Hempstead, under the command of Chief Jason LaCombe, and South Hempstead were quickly on the scene to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported.
