West Hempstead Firefighters Respond to Oil Leak

A oil tank in the basement of a home on Redmont Road was leaking Monday.

The West Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department responded to an oil leak at a home on Redmont Road Monday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene after the homeowner reported she was unable to stop the fluid from leaking from an old oil tank in her basement.

They quickly spread absorbent material throughout the area and ventilated the basement. Nassau County's Hazardous Materials Unit f was also called to the incident to assess the situation. Chief Jason LaCombe was in command of the operation.
