West Hempstead Man Arrested for Alleged Sex Acts With Child

Met 13-year-old victim through the site CraigsList, according to Suffolk Police.

A West Hempstead man was arrested Friday for allegedly engaging in criminal sex acts with a child he met on the website CraigsList.

Suffolk County Police arrested David Boutin, 42, of West Hempstead, at 3:41 p.m. on Aug. 17 at the Long Island Power Authority property, located north of Route 25A in Shoreham.

A Seventh Precinct patrol officer, who was searching a utilities access road for a stolen dirt bike, allegedly observed Boutin sitting with a child in the rear seat of a blue 2010 Toyota Corolla and arrested him. He was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual act.

Boutin is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Aug. 18.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about Boutin to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
