West Hempstead Man Arrested for Drug Possession

Four grams of marijuana and three hydrocodone pills were found by police after a search.

A West Hempstead man was arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly being found in possession of marijuana while driving on the Southern State Parkway.

According to New York State Police, around 3:25 p.m., a trooper stopped a Gray Toyota Corolla for moving out of its lane several times while the operator was using a cell phone traveling eastbound on the Southern State Parkway west of Fletcher Avenue.

While interviewing the vehicle's operator, Jeremy Levine, 23, the trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, police said. A search of the vehicle yielded four grams of marijuana in a zip lock bag, marijuana paraphernalia and three hydrocodone pills.
