West Hempstead Man Charged with Murder

Raymond Wade, 20,of West Hempstead, faces second degree murder charges in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred this summer.

Nassau County Police arrested Raymond Wade, 20, of West Hempstead on Nov. 3 and charged him with second degree murder. Homicide detectives had been investigating the fatal shooting of a St. Albans man that occurred around 1am on June 13. The victim, Jason Crafton, 27, was found by Nassau County Police on the Southern State Parkway, along with two other men, who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The police responded to the scene after hearing shots fired and receiving a Shot Spotter notification.

All three victims were transported to nearby hospitals and detectives soon learned that the two victims with non-fatal injuries were not shot on the parkway, but rather at two separate unknown locations. An investigation that lasted nearly five months, led homicide detectives to Wade. He will be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
